Conclusion:
The HeadSMART Study is a well-designed prospective clinical cohort that accurately reflects the known incidence rates for TBI, and was conducted with longitudinal sampling and neurocognitive testing.
The study was conducted to support the discovery and validation of clinically relevant biomarkers for mild to moderate traumatic brain injury over a time course of recovery lasting six months from the time of the index injury. The HeadSMART study has extensive clinical information regarding patient symptoms and one, three and six month outcomes.
